Cockroaches
Cockroaches, which hide in small cracks or crevices during the daytime, can reach lengths of 18 to 60 mm depending on species. They feed omnivorously on various organic substa- nces, including tissue, leather and paper. Cockroaches like e.g. the Oriental Cockroach (Blatta orientalis) and America n Cockroach (Periplaneta americana) occur throughout the world, especially in tropical regions where the environment is humid and warm.
Termites
Termites attack and eat the cellulose materials in buildings such as wooden furniture, cardboard and paper.Often unnoticed for long periods, evidence of infestation usually appears when it's too late, creating considerable costly damage and inconvenience.
Their colonies range in size from a few hundred individuals to enormous societies with several million individuals.
Bed Bugs
Bed-bugs are usually found in unhygienic conditions inside bedrooms as their name implies. They have a flattened appearance before a blood feed and are about five millimeters long with the look of a rather wide flea, reddish brown in color. They hide under the buttons and in creases of old mattresses, behind wallpaper, skirting boards and cracks in the floor.
They are wingless so they can't fly or jump like the flea. They are active during the night. They can survive without a blood feed for up to a year. Bites can cause welts to appear on the skin with three rows of puncture marks being characteristic.
Rodents
Man creates the ideal environment for rats and mice by providing a constant source of food, water and harborage. Rodent control is necessary and desirable because rodents spread disease either through direct contact or as a vector for another organism.
Rats and Mice have been responsible for spreading fatal disease and damaging our food and property since civilization began.
Ants
Depending on the species, thousands of ants can live with one or several queens in colonies. More than 6000 ant species are known. From a human viewpoint the queen is no more than a machine for laying eggs. She has an entourage of special workers and soldiers, who look after the larvae and protect the colony.Preventive measures and controls
-
Seal up all cracks and holes in walls.
-
Get rid of the target s of t he ant routes.
-
Pour boiling water over the nests.
-
Use insecticides (Ant Bait Station, Ant Powder and Crawling Insect Spray).
Birds
Birds, such as Pigeons, often live and breed in close proximity to man. Because of this, and the build-up of excrement they will create, they often cause considerable property damage, resulting in costly repairs and maintenance, spread of disease and cause other pest issues such as rats and cockroaches. The build-up of fouling also corrodes paint and can make walkways very slippery when wet.
Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes in Minnesota range in size from a bout 3/8 to 1/ 2 an inch in length, have slender legs and scaly wings. Female mosquito mouth-parts form a long piercing sucking proboscis while male mosquitoes do not have the ability to pierce skin. In Minnesota there are 50 mosquito species and these pests are often considered the unofficial "state bird".
Flies
There are many varieties of pest filth flies species. They can rapidly breed in their thousands in numerous environments and unsanitary conditions. Due to their dirty habits and the filth that they breed in, flies can spread germs and pose a threat to people's health, businesses and reputation.
Spider
Easily recognisable by their eight legs, some people happily tolerate the presence of spiders whilst others cannot bear the thought of them. Professional spider control is important for people with a real fear of spiders, but also to control a large or repeat infestation.
here are more than 45,000 species of spiders worldwide.
Fleas
Fleas have no friends. Fleas are parasites of warm blooded animals, particularly dogs and cats. Throughout the ages fleas have made life miserable for both man and beast. Relief is available through the application of modern pest control management technology.
Occasionally fleas bite humans when desperate for a blood meal to provide protein for egg production. All fleas are blood-sucking parasites and they need a living host in order to survive.
Wasps
Wasps are most active in the warm months of March. The Common Wasp cause the most annoyance and painful stings. Even with their special yellow and black body, they can still be confused with hornets which could also bite and sting you.
Wasps have the potential to attack in large numbers if their nest is disturbed. It is best to treat a nest earlier in the year before numbers increase and the wasps become more aggressive, increasing the threat of stings during treatment.
Venomous Pests
Due to our hot desert environment, dangerous venomous pests such as snakes, scorpions, Red Back spiders and hornets can sometimes be encountered.
